Children’s Confidence and Self Esteem

Supporting children and young people to feel more confident, capable and comfortable in themselves

Confidence and self-esteem play an important role in how children see themselves and engage with the world around them.

Some children naturally develop confidence over time, while others may struggle with self-doubt, worry or a lack of belief in their abilities.

With the right support, children can develop a stronger sense of self, feel more capable, and approach challenges with greater ease.

You May Notice Your Child:

  • lacks confidence in new or familiar situations
  • avoids trying new things
  • is overly self-critical or worried about getting things wrong
  • struggles with friendships or social situations
  • seeks frequent reassurance
  • becomes easily discouraged
  • compares themselves negatively to others

How Low Confidence Can Affect a Child

  • school and learning
  • friendships and social interaction
  • willingness to try new experiences
  • emotional wellbeing

Over time, these patterns can begin to limit a child’s potential and enjoyment of everyday life.

Confidence comes not from always being right, but from not fearing to be wrong.

Building Confidence and Self Esteem

Confidence is something that can be developed and strengthened.

With the right support, children can learn to:

  • feel more secure in themselves
  • approach situations with greater confidence
  • manage self-doubt more effectively
  • feel more comfortable socially
  • develop a more positive self-image

How Hypnotherapy Can Help

Hypnotherapy provides a calm, supportive space where children can:

  • feel more relaxed and at ease
  • build confidence from within
  • develop resilience and emotional strength
  • respond more positively to challenges
  • feel more in control of their thoughts and reactions

Sessions are gentle, age-appropriate and tailored to each child.

Confidence and anxiety are often closely linked.

As children begin to feel calmer and more in control, their confidence often improves naturally.
